Hi,
I have had some files sent to me that I need to edit and rerender. Unfortunately they have been modelled with the Vray 1.50 plugin, which I don't have.
I have never used Vray before and don't really know what I'm doing. I have downloaded a free trial to see how the files work with that before I spend money on buying Vray 1.50, however I can't seem to get it to render at all. I looked online at a tutorial using ActiveShade but depite doing what they are doing it's not working.
Any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you!Permalink Reply by Pascal Golay on January 16, 2013 at 2:25pm Permalink Reply by Helvetosaur on January 16, 2013 at 11:11pm

Hi Antonio- the license part you'll have to sort out with ChaosGroup (http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbulletin/) They also say, about 32/64:
'* V-Ray for Rhino runs as a 32-bit application on Windows x64 and will also run as a 64-bit application with the 64-bit version of Rhino 5.
* V-Ray 1.5 for Rhino builds support Rhino 4 and Rhino 5.'
* V-Ray 1.5 for Rhino builds support Rhino 4 and Rhino 5.'

I assume that you already had V-Ray 1.5 working in Rhino 4? (dongle correctly programmed, license server working, etc...)
For Rhino 5/64 bit you need to log back into ChaosGroup's download section and download the version for Rhino 5 64 bit. There is also one for Rhino 5/32 as well as a third for Rhino 4. Then, when installing, make sure it gets installed to the correct directory (check during the installation and again afterward). If you have a Rhino 5 Beta folder left over, it occasionally decides to install there, and that doesn't work.
Lastly, after the install, verify if the plug in is loaded in Options, and also that the license server is running. When in doubt, stop the license server from Windows Services and re-start it from Start>All Programs>Chaos Group>V-Ray...>Licensing>Start V-Ray license service.
If all that fails, you probably need to contact Chaos support directly.
